Scientist, Bioinformatics
POSITION SUMMARY:
ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support and apply leading-edge computational analysis and biological interpretation approaches aligned with key scientific objectives
Integrate data across assay platforms and transfer knowledge to impact early drug discovery development programs
Apply contemporary methods for data processing, analysis, interpretation, and visualization
Contribute to development and implementation of both established and novel NGS data processing protocols for cell lines, tissues, and targets of interest
Participate in design and analysis of laboratory experiments; algorithm, platform & vendor performance evaluations; and the development of novel profiling protocols
Author scientific reports, and present methods, results, and conclusions to publishable standard
Contribute to planning and execution of collaborative projects with leading academic and commercial research groups
Develop and utilize pipelines to contribute to target engagement studies across multiple targets
Support to mechanism of action and biomarker studies
Leverage insights gained from NGS to support drug discovery projects
Communicate and report data packages to an interdisciplinary team
Prepare reports and presentations for leadership and participate in internal/external meetings
REQUIREMENTS: PROVEN EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & EDUCATION:
Bachelors with a minimum of 5 years’ experience; or a master’s with a minimum of 2 years of experience; or a PhD with a minimum 0 - 1 yrs. related experience within synthetic organic chemistry
Proven experience in RNA-Seq analysis is required
Knowledge and expertise in programming languages such as Python and R
Proven skills in handling and archiving large-scale data in a cloud-based environment
Knowledge with next generation sequencing techniques to analyze RNA splicing is strongly preferred
Understanding with RNA biology including RNA structure, alternative splicing, translation, and other areas is strongly preferred
Experience with RNA structure prediction is a plus

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Drug Discovery, the Scientist, Bioinformatics will be responsible for the analysis of next generation sequencing data to support mechanism of action and biomarker studies. This is a direct laboratory position based in our Jupiter, Florida research site.
*Title will be commensurate with experience.
