ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop, optimize, and perform assays to measure small molecule efficacy at RNA, protein, and functional levels in vitro and in vivo
Design and execute assays utilizing in vitro models (primary cells, IPSCs) to support preclinical systems, enable target identification, and assay development.
Analyze and document experimental data generated and ensure timely documentation in electronic laboratory notebooks and internal technical reports.
Present data and strategy to scientists and management in appropriate internal and external venues (technical meetings, project team meetings, etc.) as appropriate.
REQUIREMENTS: PROVEN EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & EDUCATION:
PhD with a minimum 0 - 2 years’ experience in in biology, chemical biology, or biochemistry or a related field. Prior experience with RNA or neuroscience preferred but not required.
Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture, prior experience with primary and patient-derived cells is a plus
Extensive experience with an array of molecular and cell biology methods, including RNA splicing isoform analysis (RT-PCR, RT-qPCR) of cells and tissues, RNA-FISH of cells and tissues, and genotyping of tissues.
Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills

Expansion Therapeutics is seeking a highly motivated Scientist to join our discovery research team and contribute to the development of new innovative therapies for patients with serious RNA-mediated diseases. The ideal candidate will have a background in biology, chemical biology, or biochemistry or related field. This position will work closely with discovery program teams to evaluate and advance candidates and execute on key experiments to better understand and optimize RNA-targeting small molecules. This is a direct laboratory position based in our Jupiter, Florida research site.
